BIOGRAPHY

The Blackheath String Quartet is one of the most sought-after quartets in London, the Home Counties and beyond.
The players met and founded the quartet at Trinity College of Music in London, and in addition to their quartet commitments, freelance with a variety of England’s best-known professional orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English National Opera, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Individual credits also include tours with acts such as George Michael, Sting and Kylie Minogue.

They give regular public concerts and recitals, and have recently premiered and recorded a quartet composed by the brilliant Jared Armstrong, friend of the quartet, 60 years after its initial conception. The Blackheath Quartet especially take pride in creating unique arrangements - their cellist is currently working on an exciting rendition of the Piazzolla Fugata. Other recent arrangements at the request of clients have ranged from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, to the Simpsons theme tune, and a selection of Radiohead songs.
Recent high-profile clients have included a secret celebrity wedding at a castle just outside of Rome (further details of which we cannot reveal due to a strict confidentiality clause), the Chelsea Flower Show, and Sky TV for an event at London’s Ivy restaurant, where the Quartet met Nigel Kennedy and went back to his house for a jam session!
